Movies like Inception

People usually want “movies like Inception” for different reasons: layered reality, memory as a plot device, puzzle-box structure, ambitious science fiction or a thriller that rewards close attention.

Pick based on what you liked most

If you liked questioning reality

The Matrix is the closest blockbuster match: a clear action story built around discovering that ordinary reality is not what it seems.

If you liked memory and fractured structure

Memento is the obvious next step. Nolan makes memory itself determine the order in which the audience receives information.

If you liked emotional memory

Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind uses speculative technology for a much more intimate story about love, regret and erasure.

If you liked intelligence and manipulation

Ex Machina is smaller and quieter, but it delivers the same pleasure of reassessing what each character knows and intends.
