Crime and power
Start with The Godfather for institutional power or Taxi Driver for a much more subjective urban experience.
Suspense
Jaws is the clearest route into mainstream suspense and creature-driven tension.
Science fiction
Star Wars and Alien show two completely different directions: mythic adventure versus confined horror.
Legacy
Many later MovieAnchor pages connect back to these films through directors, franchises and genre conventions.
